The collection of twenty pieces from Köchel Verzeichnis (K.V.) 1-15 is based on Albert Edition 516, 1979, edited by Warren Thomson. Quoth: "The student will find that these charming pieces provide an introduction to the keyboard music of the Viennese Classical Period and to the sonatinas and sonatas of Mozart in particular." Most pieces use simply a piano as instrument. I hope that the use of other instruments follows in an obvious way from the nature of the respective composition. K.V.3 Allegro shows how even a very young Mozart knows how to use a very simple theme to good effect. Every note is just right and sounds as if it could not be written in any other way: the melody is so logical and each variation just follows logically. As with anything done by someone who is very good at it, it just looks (or sounds) so easy. Enjoy! Michael Bednarek mailto:mb@tgm.com.au http://www.geocities.com/mcmbednarek/
