"Guten Abend, gut Nacht" is a very well known German lied, often performed with rather too much sentimentality. This version caught my attention because it is an arrangement by Johannes Brahms, the composer himself. I found this in "Das Volkslied auf der Blockflöte (f') mit Klavier, Hans Wöllner, Edition Schott 5224, 1963". No one else but the composer would have dared to write an arrange- ment with such a syncopatic right hand. There seems to be a mistake in the printed version in bar ten where an extra quaver (eighth) rest found its way into the right hand on beat three. Enjoy!
