The Harmonious Blacksmith by G.F. Handel has been a favourite of mine going
back to my teenage years in High School when our music teacher introduced it
to our class. While the listener is thrilled with the relentless virtuoso skills
of the performer, it would be only hollow if its melodic foundation wasn't so
sound, and the variations are just a brilliant demonstration of the baroque art
of composition.
