August Eberhard Mller was born 1767 in Hannover, and died at Weimar in 1817. He became Hiller's successor as Cantor of St. Thomas' Leipzig. Famous as Mozart-player. Wrote much educational music and many important treatises. (Australian Music Examinations Board, Pianoforte Grade III, 1932) Although this piece in this publication is clearly meant for piano, I set it to clarinet and basson; they hold the long notes much better and also distinguish more clearly between the two alternating voices.
