As you might have gathered, I'm rather fond of classical music. So my classification and selection of Popular Music is not really what most people would expect. In fact, I already had used the category Other, so I put the remaining pieces into this category. You would not be wrong in assuming that this is my category for music of lesser value. I like a lot of popular music in the genres of rock, jazz, folk, even middle-of-the-road; there are good sounds and melodies, but you should get a CD and listen to them. They don't lend themselves to MIDI reproduction easily, and they rather lose in the tran- scription to a formal score. Maybe that's because the musical depth in the available arrangements is rather shallow. I transcribed this from a piece of sheet music bought at the flea market. I liked the film, I liked the music, especially this song. It's not hard to like, it's Cole Porter. Alas, the sheet music didn't even come close to the mood of the song in the film. It didn't even include Grace Kelly's voice. And of course it's impossible to reproduce the phrasing of Bing Crosby. But all that became clear to me only after I transcribed it. Then I added, not very well, something of a second voice. Anyway, here it is. Enjoy! Michael Bednarek http://www.geocities.com/mcmbednarek/
