As you might have gathered, I'm rather fond of classical music. So my classification and selection of Popular Music is not really what most people would expect. In fact, I already had used the category Other, so I put the remaining pieces into this category. You would not be wrong in assuming that this is my category for music of lesser value. I like a lot of popular music in the genres of rock, jazz, folk, even middle-of-the-road; there are good sounds and melodies, but you should get a CD and listen to them. They don't lend themselves to MIDI reproduction easily, and they rather lose in the tran- scription to a formal score. Maybe that's because the musical depth in the available arrangements is rather shallow. The Beatles Complete is a well produced book, and a fairly comprehensive collection of the Beatles' work. However, the arrangements are generally weak; Yesterday is one of the better ones. The are some arguable arpeggios in the left hand; I guess I used them because MOZART provides them: much like the beginner uses rather too many type faces because they are there. October 2001: Re-written with MOZART 6, utilising the new features of automatic symbols for arpeggios, chords, and lyrics. Enjoy!
